Evaluation

Question 1.
My media product is based on a relatable subject. My media product Distant Relatives is about a young girl who is on a journey to find her real parents. The title Distant Relatives gives the viewers a sense of what the film will be about. The reason I chose this title is because it sums up the concept of my opening sequence. I chose to have a young girl feature in my opening sequence because I wanted the film to be a teen drama film. The young girl that features in my opening sequence is seen wearing a top, jeans, shoes and a cardigan. I chose these clothing pieces because I wanted her to look and represent her age. Throughout my opening sequence the young girl does not speak and all we hear are the cars passing by, the wind and trees. I chose to have no conversation in my opening sequence because I wanted my opening sequence to be different and I also felt that by having no conversation it would create suspense. In my opening sequence I tried to use a range of shots. For instance, over-the-shoulder shot. I used the over-the shoulder shot to give of the point of view from the character. I also used close up shots of her feet when she is walking and of her face when someone opens the door. The reason for the close up shot of her face at the end is because I wanted people to see her reaction and for people to he able to see the surprise in her face. I also used an establishing shot when she arrives at the right house. I used this shot to set the scene and to establish the setting.

Question 2
The main character Lisa is seen wearing a brown top with bits of colour on it, a light brown cardigan on top, denim jeans and shoes. I felt that these items of clothing represented her age and youth. I  chose these dull colours so that I didn't give away too much of her personality through her clothing sense. I also didn't want to portray a stereotypical view of a teenager through my opening sequence so therefore I chose to have her look simple.

Question 3
I would like my film to be distributed through social networking cites. This is because I want my film to give knowledge and insight of what adopted children go through. Also by distributing it through a website such as YouTube, people will be able to watch it free of charge. I wouldn't want my film to be distributed through cinemas because this would mean people would have to pay to watch it and also cinemas are not all easy to access. Therefore by distributing it through social network cites I hope to get people to log on to cites such as YouTube and Viddy to watch my informative film free of charge.

Question 4
My target audience for my film would be mainly be teenagers. This is because I want my film to inform children that were adopted and want to look for their real parents, the right way of going about it. So, therefore the age rating on my film would be a 12. I have chosen this age rating because I feel 12 year olds would be able to understand the concept and would be able to learn something from it.

Question 5
Because my film is aimed mainly at teenagers I would attract and address them through social networking cites such as Facebook and Twitter. This is because a lot of teenagers today spend a majority of their time on these cites. SoI would advertise my film on these websites to get their attention. I would also advertise my film on YouTube and on a lot of transport.

Question 6
To make my film I used a camera and a tripod. I also used iMovie software to edit my film. When making the film I had to consider Health and Safety. I had to make sure that there were no obstacles in the path that my character was walking in. I also had to check the weather to make sure that it did not rain.

Question 7
I have learnt a lot when making this film. I have learnt about how different camera shots make a different impact in a scene. I have also learnt the importance of editing and how vital it is to edit any scene.
