Question 1.
My media product is based on a relatable subject. My media product Distant Relatives is about a young girl who is on a journey to find her real parents. The title Distant Relatives gives the viewers a sense of what the film will be about. The reason I chose this title is because it sums up the concept of my opening sequence. I chose to have a young girl feature in my opening sequence because I wanted the film to be a teen drama film. The young girl that features in my opening sequence is seen wearing a top, jeans, shoes and a cardigan. I chose these clothing pieces because I wanted her to look and represent her age. Throughout my opening sequence the young girl does not speak and all we hear are the cars passing by, the wind and trees. I chose to have no conversation in my opening sequence because I wanted my opening sequence to be different and I also felt that by having no conversation it would create suspense. In my opening sequence I tried to use a range of shots. For instance, over-the-shoulder shot. I used the over-the shoulder shot to give of the point of view from the character. I also used close up shots of her feet when she is walking and of her face when someone opens the door. The reason for the close up shot of her face at the end is because I wanted people to see her reaction and for people to he able to see the surprise in her face. I also used an establishing shot when she arrives at the right house. I used this shot to set the scene and to establish the setting.
Question 2
The main character Lisa is seen wearing a brown top with bits of colour on it, a light brown cardigan on top, denim jeans and shoes. I felt that these items of clothing represented her age and youth. I chose these dull colours so that I didn't give away too much of her personality through her clothing sense. I also didn't want to portray a stereotypical view of a teenager through my opening sequence so therefore I chose to have her look simple.
Question 3
I would like my film to be distributed through social networking cites. This is because I want my film to give knowledge and insight of what adopted children go through. Also by distributing it through a website such as YouTube, people will be able to watch it free of charge. I wouldn't want my film to be distributed through cinemas because this would mean people would have to pay to watch it and also cinemas are not all easy to access. Therefore by distributing it through social network cites I hope to get people to log on to cites such as YouTube and Viddy to watch my informative film free of charge.
Question 4
My target audience for my film would be mainly be teenagers. This is because I want my film to inform children that were adopted and want to look for their real parents, the right way of going about it. So, therefore the age rating on my film would be a 12. I have chosen this age rating because I feel 12 year olds would be able to understand the concept and would be able to learn something from it.
Question 5
Because my film is aimed mainly at teenagers I would attract and address them through social networking cites such as Facebook and Twitter. This is because a lot of teenagers today spend a majority of their time on these cites. SoI would advertise my film on these websites to get their attention. I would also advertise my film on YouTube and on a lot of transport.
Question 6
To make my film I used a camera and a tripod. I also used iMovie software to edit my film. When making the film I had to consider Health and Safety. I had to make sure that there were no obstacles in the path that my character was walking in. I also had to check the weather to make sure that it did not rain.
Question 7
I have learnt a lot when making this film. I have learnt about how different camera shots make a different impact in a scene. I have also learnt the importance of editing and how vital it is to edit any scene.

Script
Setting
My two minute sequence is set in Welling on Wickham Lane. There are loads of houses surrounding Lisa and there is only one main road.
It is a Friday afternoon and it exactly 5:36pm.
Script
Lisa is walking.
She then stops at a house she believes is the house she's looking for.
She checks the address on a letter to find that, the house she has stopped at is not the right house.
Lisa continues to walk in search for the house.
She then stops and looks at the address again and looks to her left and right.
Lisa continues walking and we then see her stop in front a house.
To reassure herself that she's arrived at the right destination she looks at the letter one final time then puts it back in her bag.
Lisa approaches the house and opens the first door.
She then takes a deep breath and knocks the main door.
She waits anxiously for a response.
No one answers the door so she knocks again.
She then tries the door bell but it appears it doesn't work.
No one responds so she decides to leave, but just as she turns around. Someone opens the door.
Lisa turns back around to be surprised by the familiar face that opens the door.
Character Analysis
These are all well know teen American actresses. They are all examples of the type of actress I would like to play the role of 'Lisa' in my opening scene.

My New & Final Idea
We see the main character, Lisa walking. We the viewers are uncertain of where she is going. Lisa constantly keeps looking at piece of paper which has the address of her destination. She looks around at the houses. The viewers are able to see that she is not familiar with the area she's in.
We then see her arrive at her destination, which is a house. She approaches the house and knocks the door several times. No one responds to the knocking and just as she is about to turn around and go back, someone opens the door. We the viewers dont see who it is but Lisa does.

BBFC
1.What is the BBFC?
The British Board of Film Classifications is an independent, non-governmental organisation which is responsible for the classifications in films, videos, games and DVDs. The BBFC was set up in 1912 by the film industry as an independent body to bring a degree of uniformity to the classification of film nationality. In 1984 Parliament passed the Video Recordings Act. This act stated that, subject to certain exemptions, video recordings offered for sale or hire commercially in the UK must be classified by an authority designated by the Secretary of State. The BBFC is a not for profit organisation, and its fees are adjusted only as required to cover its costs. Its income is derived solely from the fees it charges for its services, calculated by measuring the running time of films or DVDs submitted for classification.

Character Analysis
I have not been able to find actors for my two minute sequence. Therefore, I have had to think of actors who represent the kind of actor I'm looking for, for my two minute opening scene.

John Boyega
John Boyega is a young british-nigerian actor who is known for his roles in Attack the Block and My Murder.
My Murder was a short drama which was based on a real story of a boy (Shakilus Townsend) who was led to his death by a girl.
For my two minute opening scene I would like the main character to have all the characteristics that John Boyega had when playing Shakilus Townsend.

Malcolm Kamulete
Malcolm Kamulete is a young british actor and is known for his role as Ra'nele in Top Boy.

My Final Idea
My Film Idea
Its around 8:00 am on a Wednesday morning. We see the main character Ryan Wilson walking through an estate with a pint of milk and bread in his hand. He is wearing tracksuit botttoms, a hoodie and trainers and is listening to music through his headphones. He then goes up a flight of stairs and as he is about to approach his front door, a man comes out the door whilst pulling up his pants and doing his zip up. Viewers should sense the tension at this moment through the use of a slow motion shot, which will occur when they walk past each other, starring at one another. Ryan then enters the flat. He lives in a two bedroom flat. The flat is untidy and crowded with unnecessary things. Ryan then goes to wake up his younger brother, Rico, who is running late for school. They converse about them not having enough money for gas, which means there is no hot water for Rico to bath. Rico gets dressed brushes his teeth and washes his face with cold water. Whilst Rico gets ready for school, Ryan is making toast for the both of them. We then see them converse more about there not being enough time to sit and eat and Ryan forces Rico to eat his toast whilst walking to school. Ryan then goes to his mother's room and we see her fast asleep with barely anything on. Ryan gently takes a ten pound note out her hand and leaves with his little brother for school. Whilst walking Ryan explains to Rico why he is taking him to school. Ryan fears that Rico wont actually go to school. We then see a distant shot of them walking through the estate. Then the opening credits will appear.

First Film Idea
I recently watched 'The Shwashank Redemption'. In the opening scene of the film Tim Robbins who plays Andy Dufrusne is in court and is re-telling the story of what had happened. This opening scene inspired me to come up with a similar opening scene for my two minute scene.
With my opening scene I plan to have a man walking getting out of a car and entering the court house. We then see him say his name to a receptionist and the receptionist responds by giving him a room number, which is where his trial is being held. He then makes his way to the room whereby he is greeted and escorted by a police officer who escorts him to the stand. We then hear the judge ask the jury if they have reached a decision on wether the character is guilty or not. A memember of the jury replies and says yes. The jury then reveal that the character has been found innocent. Then many of the people in court begin to scream and shout in anger and rage of the verdict.

Thinking About My Film: Moodboard
Moodboard
I decided to create a moodboard because it helped establish what types of film I liked and what I didn't. By doing this also helped because I knew what type of film I would want to create.
On the left side of my board I had all the types of film genres I love. The first is a picture of nails with the british flag. I used this picture to represent British Films. I love British films, for instance, 'The King's Speech'. The second picture is of Peter Andre dressed as a superhero. I used this picture to represent my love for Action/Superhero films. Most of my favourite films are action/superhero films, such as, 'X-Men', 'Thor' and 'Transformers'.The next set of pictures represent Animation Films. My favourite animated film is 'Up'. The fourth pictures represent my favourite film genre, Comedy. My favourite comedy film is 'The Hnagover'. The final set of pictures are taken from 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter'. These pictures represent sequels. I love films films that have sequels.
On the right side of my board I put all the film genres I dont like. The first set of pictures are all music related. I used these pictures to represent musicals. I dont like musicals because of the singing. I feel that they take all the focus away fom the story line.At the bottom there is a picture of a couple. I used this picture to represent Romance movies. I dont like romance films because they are predictable. I love films that end unexpectedley.
